Suitable for
PMI training will be well suited to individuals who require an internationally recognised project management qualification and who wish to work abroad. This workshop is aimed at experienced Project Managers who already have a working knowledge of both the principles Project Management, and also the structure adopted by the PMI and who also plans to sit the PMP exam in the near future. Although there are no mandatory pre-requisites for course delegates, the PMP certification mandates the following prior to sitting the exam and this influences the profile of course attendees:
  • Bachelors Degree, 4500hrs+ project management experience, 35 hours of formal project management training (satisfied by this course) or
  • High-school Diploma, 7500hrs+ project management experience, 35 hours of formal project management training (satisfied by this course)

NB: This course satisfies 14 of the pre-requisite 35 hours of PM training prior to the PMP exam.

Summary
The PMI are the globally recognised Project Management Institute. Their Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an internationally recognised Project Management qualification. Many global organisations choose PMI as a means to achieve a worldwide Project Management standard with individuals accredited to a qualification recognised in most countries.

This highly interactive, 2 day course supports delegates who are preparing to sit the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam in the near future. It provides technical revision sessions, coaching and advice on exam technique as well as opportunities to practice typical exam questions.

Content
This highly interactive and participative course covers the following areas:

Structure of and perspective on project management adopted by PMI Review of the structure offered within the PMBoK and how this influences exam content.
Review of the assumptions the examiner will make about the delegate’s own working environment.
Review of examination areas outside of the PMBoK
  • Capability assessment of delegates
    Delegates will be invited to declare those areas where they believe assistance is required. This process will be supplemented by attempting a collation of exam questions
  • Selection of prioritised topics
    On the basis of the above a schedule of prioritised topic will be drawn up
  • Delivery of selected prioritised topics
    Each session will include a technical review and will expose delegates to potential PMI idiosyncrasies and jargon and will be supported with targeted exam questions
  • Capability reassessment
    Delegates will be invited to attempt more exam questions to verify their new level of competence This is primarily aimed to support delegates in structuring their ongoing study plans
  • Course closure
    The course will be concluded with sessions which will allow delegates to raise any outstanding concerns or queries


Learning Objectives
By the end of this course delegates will be able to:
  • Have established how the 5 process groups and professional responsibility requirements form the integrative framework adopted by the Project Management Institute (PMI®)
  • Have established how each of the 42 individual process within the "Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" (PMBoK®) relates to each other
  • Have understood how to interpret all the major PMI definitions and acronyms
  • Have practiced and understood the exam’s format and questions
  • Have acquired the knowledge and understanding necessary in order to prepare a personal study plan for the PMP Exam


Exam Structure
Subject to satisfactory validation of the stated pre-requisites by the PMI, delegates will arrange directly with the PMI to sit the closed-book 4 hours, 200 multiple choice PMP examination at an accredited test centre on a convenient future date.
