The APMG Programme and Project Sponsorship Qualification is aimed at those senior managers who sponsor programmes and projects (Sponsors). This includes those who have been made accountable as individuals for a specific programme or project (Senior Responsible Owners).

The qualification certifies that these managers are equipped with the knowledge and understand the skills needed to lead a successful delivery of policy or strategy, or to lead an initiative or deliver to a target.

It would be particularly relevant to:

• Senior Responsible Owners (SRO’s)
• Project Sponsors
• Project Executives
• Programme Directors
• Departmental Directors

Although this course is not prescriptive, it is assumed that delegates attending are familiar with Programme and Project Management (PPM) related frameworks (e.g. MSP™ & PRINCE2®)

Summary
Programmes and projects require a leader and champion to Sponsor and take accountability for successful delivery. This accreditation has been developed to provide a clear understanding of what is required in the key role of Programme or Project Sponsor. It addresses the key questions not only of "What should I be doing?" but also "What is an appropriate level of my involvement?" and "What should others be doing for me?"

Content
The programme consists of four complementary modules which can either be delivered as a two-day workshop or as a series of half day briefings:

• Module 1 The Role of the Sponsor
• Module 2 Working With People
• Module 3 Identifying and Establishing a Programme/Project
• Module 4 The Delivery Journey

This two day programme comprises four half-day modules. The examination (not included) can be scheduled at the end of the 4th module.
